About Devology Labs
A London software studio for teams that take engineering seriously.
Devology Labs is a senior-led software agency. We partner with product, platform, and data teams to design, build, and scale cloud-native software on AWS — bringing the standard of an in-house staff engineer without the full-time hire.

How we work
Our principles.
Senior engineers, all the way through
Every engagement runs through someone with at least a decade of production experience. You won't get pitched by a senior and then handed off to a junior.
Scope the outcome, then build the team
We agree what good looks like first, then bring the people shaped to deliver it. The team fits the work, not the other way round.
Pragmatic AWS architecture
Lambda for event-driven flows and APIs. ECS Fargate for long-running jobs and websockets. DynamoDB or OpenSearch where they fit; Postgres when transactions and relational shape actually matter. Structured logs, metrics, and traces ship with the first deploy.
Strangler migrations
We use the strangler pattern: the old system keeps delivering while the new one comes online beside it, so you don't have to choose between rebuilding and shipping.
Compliance built in
WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, GDPR and data protection, security, and the wider compliance work all ship as part of the feature. Not a follow-up ticket, not a pre-launch panic.
Capabilities
Five disciplines, one delivery standard.
The company
Built from real engagements.
Devology Labs is a private software studio operating across London, Delaware, and Budapest. We work with a small, deliberate set of clients — mostly as an embedded partner to existing product and platform teams, occasionally as a delivery-led build partner for greenfield products.
The company was founded to concentrate the kind of senior engineering that's normally trapped inside large enterprises: the decade of judgement calls on architecture, scale, migration, and delivery cadence. Our engagements span enterprise music, retail, travel, and media — including next-generation platform work at Sony Music Publishing, the Magento-to-microservices migration at END. Clothing, and an SEO-first consumer product at Pickup Hungary that's still running on its original architecture.
Mark is a forward-thinking technical lead with over a decade in production engineering across London, Copenhagen, and remote teams. He founded Devology Labs to work directly with product teams that need senior engineering judgement — not seats.
His current flagship engagement is leading the architecture for Sony Music Publishing's next-generation sync licensing platform — a cloud-native, AWS-hosted system covering 3M+ songs that powers placements in major films, AAA titles, and Super Bowl campaigns. Past engagements also include END. Clothing, The Business of Fashion, JOE & THE JUICE, Bonnier Group, and Clio Online.
He founded an award-winning gaming platform early in his career — winning the National Shop Awards 2012 as its youngest recipient — and later built a media app with 500K+ daily users. He also writes publicly on serverless testing and AWS cost optimisation.
